Self Defence For Women
Means Choices For All Women in Perth

Personal safety for women is a largely ignored subject. In today's hectic and rushed environment, personal concerns are more towards 'getting ahead', climbing that corporate ladder, or just rushing home to prepare dinner. But all it takes is one incident - for you to be victimized, and scarred for life.

Self Defence for Women is about the choices that you make on a daily basis; a theme that runs through the entire personal development course. Our philosophy is that issues such as personal safety need not be in conflict with your social life, they must in fact complement the way in which you live. Such self defence issues from the syllabus cover:

  • Debunking the myths and understanding statistics of such crimes against women.
  • Recognizing the factors in which such violence could occur.
  • Knowing that your surroundings can both be used for and against you.
  • Using the correct physical force to protect yourself.

Teach me a women self defence tip.

Self defence is not a gimmick, and quick tips really don't demonstrate the value of the entire approach the personal safety course takes to educate you on self defence. However, at a crunch, let's talk about statistics. During the lecture component of our self defence course, we talk about how women should not get into a car if threatened at knife point or gun point. Most ongoing self defence debates are quite unanimous on the topic that if a woman is forced into a car, chances are slim that she'll make it out alive. Usual statistics are quoted at 95% chance or greater that the woman will not survive this type of attack. This is as opposed to FBI statistics reflecting the accuracy of policemen shooting at a target at about 12 feet. Apparently, owing to stress police officers only hit their target every one in four or five shots; and out of that, the probability is that they'll miss a major organ with that shot. That's a 20% or 25% chance that you'll get hit in a fairly non-lethal target versus a 95% chance that you'll never make it out alive. So women, your best bet when faced with this scenario is to run!

Is the Self-defence and Personal Safety course for me?

This self defence course for women will be of benefit to people aged between 15 and 55 years of age; students, executives, or homemakers. It will be of key benefit to those women in occupations where travel is required at night; affecting people such as shiftworkers, F&B operators, and health care workers - women who require a knowledge of self-defence and personal safety. Educators, female martial arts instructors, and community leaders; every woman expo sed to risk in their professional and person are encouraged to attend, so that personal safety awareness can be affected over a larger population.

Why should I attend the Women Self Defence course?

This personal development course will:

  • Focus attention on safety factors under your control.
  • Examine self-defeating ideas and expose real issues relating to safety and vulnerability.
  • Help you learn effective self-defence techniques.

My last bit of advice here, and this is not trying to knock any of my competitors: most martial arts schools are unprepared to deal with the elements needed for a true self defence course. Go ahead and download some of our martial arts course notes and documents. Even if you don't eventually come to our course, use the 'Flight or Fight Affirmation Exercise' as a basis to compare what the other schools are offering. Most will not allow their courses to undergo this level of scrutiny, nor will they distribute detailed course notes to users!

Methodology of Self Defence for Women

The Women's Self-defence and Personal Safety course concentrates on achieving awareness of personal safety issues by improving the participants' ideas of awareness and avoidance. A discussion type format will be followed interlaced with short quizzes relating to personal safety ideas. The personal development course will also be a physical component where participants practise self defence techniques, both standing and lying down.
